How to create a Light Saber video effect in 5 easy steps.

 

STEP 1

Download and install LSMaker from http://lsmaker.uw.hu/page.php (FREE Program)

STEP 2

Start the LSMaker program | Goto Import, click on Add and select the video you'd like to use for the Light Saber effect.   Click OK.
The program is somewhat buggy, so select "DirectShow, Not just for AVI!" (Second option in the Video import method section)

STEP 3

Select the color of your saber by clicking on the color picker, then change the "0" to the right of the color picker to "1 Render using color"
Select the color of your "Blade" by clicking on the colored picker. Change the "0" to the right of the color picker to "1 Render using color"

STEP 4

Now it's time to create the saber effect.
Right click where you want the saber to start, you'll see a white dot appear.
Left click where you want the saber to end, you'll see a black dot.
Press the Right arrow key to advance to the next frame. Repeat this step to the end of your video.

STEP 5

Once you're done marking where you want the Light Saber to appear, goto Export and select AVI.
The "Select Range" box will appear. Click on "End" and press OK.
The "Image properties" box will appear next, select the quality you'd like to export at and press OK.
Finally, the "Video Compression" box will appear, select the Compressor you'd like to use and press OK.
LSMaker will start to render and create your final video.

That's it! Next all you need to do is add some light saber sound effects and sync it up with the video. The light saber sound effects found in this Mac program worked great: http://isnoop.net/apps/MacSaber_Latest.php. Use the trial version of Adobe Premiere to add the sound effects.
